Why is scheduled maintenance necessary?
To ensure optimum performance, safe operation, minimum downtime,and the maximum useful life of equipment.
What does the scheduled maintenance provide?
Provides regular and systematic servicing, verification of performance and safety, and detection and replacement of worn or failing components before a serious problem develops.

(a) Preventative maintenance: systematic care, servicing, and inspection of equipment for the purpose of maintaining it in a safe and servicable condition, and detecting and correcting all minor faults

PM is the joint responsibility of equipment operators and maintenance personnel.
What is unscheduled maintenance and whose responsibility is it?
Trouble-shooting to isolate the cause of equipment malfunction and replacement or adjustment of components and subassemblies to restore normal function, safety, performance, and reliabilty of medical equipment. It is the responsibility of the BMET.
What is contract maintenance commonly used for?
To repair or rebuild dental handpieces.
