Digital Video Disc. Looks like just like a CD, but holds much more information. You can watch movies, listen to music, or play games from these.
GUI
Graphical User Interface. Makes the computer user-friendly.
mouse
A pointing device that has a laser guie onits underside and two or morebuttons for clicking commands; you control movement of the pointer by moving the entire mouse around on your desk
keyboard
The most frequently used input device; allows the user to enter text, numbers, and special characters
monitor
A display device that forms an image by converting electrical signals from the computer into points of colored light on the screen
speakers
Output devices that allow you to hear sound from your computer. There are usually two and come in various sizes.
printer
A common part of a computer system. It takes what you see on the computer screen and prints it on paper.
scanner
Copies a picture or document into the computer.
modem
A device which allows computers to communicate with one another via telephone lines
motherboard
The main circuit board located inside the tower to which all of the other internal components connect

Contains over 65,000 unique patterns; enough for foreign languages like Chinese

HyperText MarkUp Language; used to create Web pages

A function of the operating system which allows ease of operation of the computer; easy to operate

Insertion point. Moves on you screen when you move the mouse on your desk
