Some are destined to be a doctor, to be a teacher, to be a mechanic, to be something.
Lots of people figure it all out easily, because whatever they're good at can easily become their career.
All my life I have struggled to find what i'm good at. I never stuck with any sort of hobby or skill, which has landed me here.
I have so many options, but I am THE MOST indecisive person ever.
I love animals, so I have thought about being a veterinarian technician. I work in a retirement facility, and I really love the residents I care for, so I have thought about working with the elderly.
Growing up we are expected to succeed in life. We are expected to make our parents proud, by earning good grades, by treating others kindly, as they taught us to, and developing our own sense of individuality.
There is a certain standard expected of us, that we are expected to have a passion for something, that will lead us a direction in life.
My brother had his future career planned out since he was about 10 years old, because he has always had a huge passion for mechanics - and he’s really good at it.
Watching him all his life be praised for awards and accomplishments made it that much more stressful on me.
All my life I have put pressure on myself to figure out my passion, and how to pursue it. I have a huge heart for all kinds of animals, sense I grew up with so many.
Ever since I can remember I have wanted chickens. I begged my parents for years and years.
Finally, on my twelfth birthday they caved and I got my first four laying hens. Soon, the coop was full with 15 birds at one point
My love for animals has shown me that I would love to care for them in the future. I love the idea of coming to work everyday and caring for animals in need.
Working at a retirement has shown me that I have the patience and people skills needed to work with the elderly. I really love the reward in doing what I do - because people can be so appreciative of what you do for them.
For now, I am going to get my gen-eds over with at NHTI, and then transition as soon as my mind is made.
At this point, things are up in the air. Here's to figuring out the next step in life, soon.
