Proclamation of 1763 |
This order said that colonists could not settle west of the Appalachian Mountains. Britain gave Native Americans rights to that land. |

A crowd in Boston was arguing with a British soldier and started throwing snowballs. More soldiers arrived and shots were fired. Five colonists were killed. |

Tea Act |
This act allowed the East India Company to sell tea in America at a very low price. This cheap tea was still taxed and colonists refused to buy it. |

Boston Tea Party |
Sons of Liberty dressed up as Mohawk Indians and boarded a ship in Boston Harbor and threw the tea into the harbor. The British closed Boston Harbor and passed the Intolerable Acts. |

First Continental Congress |
Colonists held a meeting in Philadelphia to discuss the Intolerable Acts. The congress wrote letters to the British government saying colonists should have the same freedoms as other British citizens |

Battle at Lexington |
British soldiers met a group of Minutemen in Lexington and the first shots of the revolution were fired. Eight colonists were killed and nine were wounded. |
