|
L-Dopa |
Precursor of dopamine. Used in Parkinson. Crosses BBB. Combined with carbidopa. Carbidopa doesn’t crosses BBB. Carbidopa is a dopa decarboxylase inhibitor. |
|
Alpha-MethylDopa. |
2 effects. 1st is that it is a competitive inhibitor of dopa decarboxylase. So no formation of dopamine or NE or adrenaline.
2nd is that it is converted into Alpha-Methylnorepinephrine by dopamine beta hydroxylase. Alpha-Methylnorepinephrine is a alpha2 agonist. So inhibit sympathetic nervous system. Same as clonidine. |
