Multigated blood Pool Scanning

The computer breaks the time between R

waves on the ECG into fractions of a second, called "gates." Bolod flow is recorded through

the gates. The ventricular wall motion and EJ is

determined.

Transesophageal echocardiography (TEE)

Examines cardiac structure and function with

an ultrasound transducer behind the heart in

the esophagus or stomach. Looks at posterior cardiac structures (left atrium, mitral valve,

and aortic arch).

Myocardial Nuclear Perfusion Imaging (MNPI)

A radioactive tracer is injected and an MI

and decreased heart blood flow can be

detected. Useful for evaluating left ventricular ejection.
