insert airway and provide positive pressure ventilation with 100% O2; begin with administration of two slow breaths then maintain ventilation
Circulation: if responsive
assess radial pulse
Circulation: if unresponsive:
assess carotid pulse
if pulse is present:
determine quality and rate , then perform secondary survey.
if pulse is absent:
begin chest compressions and continue until cardiac monitor/defibrillator is available
Defibrillation
attach monitor and external defibrillator; if cardiac rhythm is pulseless, V Tach or V Fib, move on to ACLS protocol
