There are generally two types of c-section that is planned/elective & unplanned/emergency c-section Indications for planned c-section; 1. Previous c-section 2. Macrosomia/big baby 3. Infections ie. Herpes/HIV 4. Multiple gestation 5. Placenta previa 6. Obstructed labour, ie. Due to mechanical obstruction such as uterine fibroids, displaced pelvic fx Indications for emergency c-section; 1. Failure to progress ;2hrs w/o cervical change w adequate contractions in active phase, the 3P's passenger issues (cephalopelvic disproportions)/power of contractions problem which w this it can be augumented 2. Small pelvis 3. Malposition 4. Signs of fetal distress |
