* Difficulty breathing


* Cover more than one body part


* Include head, neck, hand, feet genital area.


* Involve children /Elderly

Caring for burns

* Cool burned area w/large amount of saline water if not available use plain water.



* Cover with sterile dressing / if available, if burn is minor (not serious) if sterile dressing not available use sheer / smooth textured clothes.

First degree burn

1st degree burns are superficial / epidermis (outer layer of skin)

2nd degree burn

1st layer burned through, skin dry and red appearing, warm to touch, painful, swollen, some have blisters

3rd degree burn

3rd most serious, affects/destroys all layers of tissue, likely to get infected,bone,tissue,skin and nerves.
