2. Explain three of the four missions in the Acts of the Apostles.
One mission of the Acts was the Mission to Jerusalem. There was dissention in the religious community of whether non-Jews should be Jews to practice Christianity and outside the community the basic fact was that Christians were being persecuted. St. Stephen becomes the first martyr in the Church. Another was the Mission to the Gentiles. At the Council of Jerusalem in 49 AD, the Church declared that people did not have to be Jewish to practice Christianity. A last mission was Paul to Rome. Paul traveled to Asia Minor, Greece, and Rome to spread his Gospels. Paul eventually lands in Rome where he is placed on house arrest and eventually executed.
3. Explain three out of the four Marion beliefs. What doctrine do they all address?
One is the Immaculate Conception. This says Mary was conceived without original sin. Another was the virgin birth. This was Mary giving birth to Jesus without having sexual intercourse and thus freeing Jesus from original sin. The last is Mary is the mother of Jesus of the Church. She is called Theotokus, which literally means “God bearer.” Symbolically she gave birth to the Church when she gave birth to Jesus. These all address the doctrine of Original Sin

5. Using one of the scriptural passages discussed in class, explain how Luke portrays Jesus as the compassion Savior In his Gospel.
One passage is the Parable of the Lost Sheep. This parable deals with the love of sinners. The story says that God is willing to defy logic to show his compassionate love for all of us.
