What were American GI's and how many were there?

American GIs were American soldiers based in Britain they arrived in 1942 and there were 3 million of them.

What impact did American GIs have on Britain?

Very popular with women there were 80,000 GI brides throughout the war. They was very little conflict with British people and Americans though some ensued over cultural differences.

There was around 130,000 African American GIs. They were surprised by how they were treated in the UK due to the lack of racial discrimination.
