according to some tafsir books, built by angels before humans lived on earth. it was a massive structure, unlike the one we see right now During the food of Nüh this structure was destroyed, but the foundations were left.
Then Ibrahim and his son Ismail rebuilt a small Ka'bah based on the foundations that were left.
When the Quraysh rebuilt the Ka'bah before the Prophethood of our beloved Muhammad it, they tried to move the stones from the foundation but stopped because it started an earthquake |

However the Quraysh didn't rebuild the Ka'bah according the original foundations (in which the base was rectangular), as they didn't have enough stone. They rebuilt it as a cube. this is why prophet wished to rebuilt it in its original shape After Abdullah ibn al-Zubayr rebuilt the Kabah. Abdul Malik in Marwan had it reverted back to the cube shape. Although it is said he regretted it after hearing of the hadith of the Prophet The Ka'bah has stayed in the same way since, although the structure has been raised slightly and made taller. The stones may have been replaced . |
