Points on the delta attack 400 s pro

flow rate: 130,230, 300 and 400

Working pressure of 6 bar but will still operate at 3 bar.

Normal operating range 5-8 bar.

More than 5 missing / broken teeth= defective

Points on rosenbauer RB101

Flow rate: 130,230,300,400 litres per minute

Optimum pressure 6 bar

Still effective at 3 bar if optimum pressure cannot be achieved

Rosenbauer project 2

Larger branch than delta 400 or rosenbauer 101.

Optimum working pressure 7bar

Can work at 3.5 -7 bar

Throw of 57m

7 bar jet can produce jet of 630lpm

Maximum flow rate 930lpm jet and spray combined

What is a McDonald's coupling

Used on Hosereel branch delta attack 100 - hermaphrodite male / female coupling

When should ground monitors be used?

. Larger volume of water is required than can be provided by hand controlled branches.

. Operations require extinguishing media to be thrown at a greater distance.

. Operations require extinguishing media over long time periods in same area of operation

Akron Mercury ground monitor : single flow rate foam nozzle

- delivers pre-mixed, aspirated foam at a flow rate of 950 lpm

throw of 36m

Akron Mercury ground monitor : variable flow rate variable jet/ spray water deployment nozzle

delivers water at 950, 1400 and 1900 lpm- throw of 57m at 1900 lpm

How can jet reaction be controlled?

-Adopt a position on even and stable ground (not icy, slippery or covered in rubble).

-Start with a pressure and flow-rate that can be coped with and increase the flow-rate/ pressure as and when required.

- Have at least two firefighters on the branch when working with high flow-rates and high pressures and open and close the branch slowly.

-Make sure the hose runs out in a straight line behind the branch operator.

When are branches tested

tested

- acceptance

- quarterly

inspection

- annually

- daily with inventory checks

- after operational use
