What nerve root is effected by an intervertebral disc herniation?

What is a large Ferguson's angle? Small?

Large - big butt, gravity goes forward. Lumbar lordosis - sway back.
small - flatt butt, straight spine - disc degeneration. |

What is the difference between spina bifida meningocele and meningomyeolocele?

meningocele is herniation of meninges through the defect.
Meningomyeolocele is herniation of meninges and nerve roots. |

What is spondylolysis?
|
fracture, disintegration, or dissolution of a vertebra. Causes low achy back pain made worse with activity. Pars interarticularis fracture is usually seen (collar on scotty dog)

What is spondylolisthesis?
|
anterior displacement of 1 vertebra in respect to the inferior vertebra.
usually occurs between L4/5, and usually due to fracture of parts interarticularis. "beheaded scotty dog" achy low back pain made worse with activity |

What are the 5 classifications of spondylolisthesis?

1) dysplastic - congenital involving deficiency of L5 or sacral neural arch and deficiencies of superior sacral facets
2) Isthmic - most common - pathology of pars interarticularis. A - fatigue fracture. B - elongated pars. C - acute fracture of the pars. 3) Degenerative - changes to the zygopophyseal joints, secondary to chronic segmental instability. 4) Traumatic - fractures anywhere except the pars. 5) Pathologic - due to bone dx |
