Why shouldn't we apply things from Judges as a rule into our lives?

The Book of Judges is DESCRIPTIVE, not prescriptive. It describes various events in Israel's history, but does not prescribe to us how we should live. Just because an action is in scripture does not mean it is supported by scripture.

Example # 1 of Judges being Descriptive, not Prescriptive

Jepthah's vow to sacrifice whatever comes out from the doors of his house to meet him. It happened to be his daughter and he still fulfilled that vow.

Example # 2 of Judges being Descriptive, not Prescriptive

Micah made a shrine and household gods

Example # 3 of Judges being Descriptive, not Prescriptive

Wrongs that the Benjamites committed

- raping and abusing the concubines

- wanting to commit homosexuality

- kidnapping of the wives
