Regarding epilepsy, what is an aura? Ictal period? postictal? interictal period?

-accurate and detailed history from pt. and witness! (important to ask about loss of bowel or bladder function and tongue biting)
-remeber can get a seizure from an infection!! |

How would a pt. present with status epilecticus?

-seizures occur so frequently that the patient does not recover between events, or a seizure lasting longer than 5 minutes. This is a neurological emregency!!

-Tx: ABCs, monitor vital signs, establish IV site, labs, EEG monitoring..give loazepam |
