Describe red blood cells |
•transport oxygen •no nucleus •contains haemoglobin (red) •bi- concave shape |
Describe white blood cells |
•Large with lobed nucleus •fight disease |
Describe platelets |
•cell fragments •prevent infection by forming clots and scabs |
Describe plasma |
•liquid part; Transports glucose, hormones and minerals |
What do lymphocytes do |
The lymphocyte sees the antigen, so produces antibodies to "fit" the antigen. The antibodies fit onto the antigen and cause it to "clump" |
What do phagocytes do |

Aorta, vena cava, capillaries, veins and arteries |
What does the heart do |
It pushes red blood cells around, carrying oxygen |
What does the circulatory system do |
It carries red blood cells. It is made up of your heart and blood vessels |
What direction does blood in arteries flow |
Away from the heart |
What direction does blood in veins flow |
To the heart |
What do valves in the veins and heart do |
They allow red blood cells to pass through but the stop them from coming back out the wrong direction |
