What is the ABO System?
The four blood types of the lymphatic system; A, B, AB, and O.
Blood Type AB
Known as the universal recipient because it will not react to any of the other blood groups.
Blood Type O
Known as the universal donor, it can be given to a person of any bloof type, but a person with type O can only receive type O.
Rh Factor
A component of blood in some individuals. If a person's blood contains this they are considered Rh Positive. If they do not they are considered Rh negative.
Anemia
General term describing a condition where there is a lack of blood.
Leukemia

Specific to WBC
Condition where there is an excessive number of white blood cells.
DIC or Disseminated Intravascular Coagulopathy

Specific to Thrombocytes
Very serious disease in which there is a widespread blood clot formation inside blood vessels.
Embolus

Specific to Thrombocytes
Composed of semisolid blood components that act as plugs inside a vessel. (Clots will move until they reach a blood vessel where they can no longer pass through the vessel and will thus obstruct the vessel.)
Hemophilia

Specific to Thrombocytes
A hereditary condition in shich there is a prolonged time for the blood to clot.
Amyloidosis

Specific to Plasma
A condition in which there is a waxy, starch like substance that accumulates in the organs and impairs their normal functioning.
Multiple Myeloma

Specific to Plasma
A growth of many tumors in the bone marrow that destroys the bone, causing fractures and giving off large amounts of calcium into the plasma.
