Acute reactions |
Acute hemolytic- from ABO /Rh incompatibility. Occurs quickly in the first 15-30 min. May be mild fever and chills to life threatening S&S: headache, chest pain, low back pain, Tackycardia
Febrile non-hemolytic - MOST COMMON occurs AFTER 30 min. Increased risk after multiple transfusion S&S: cold sensation, Tackycardia, fever, tackypnea
Allergic - may occur during OR after. Usually NOT severe. S&S: hives, occasionally anaphylaxis
