A. Safety (Ref a, b, c)
Halon may produce decomposition by-products characterized by a sharp odor that may be harmful. Evacuation or oxygen is recommended until ventilation is established. |
Before servicing the oxygen system, make sure your hands, clothing, and all
tools 'and equipment are clean. |
Clean the lines, fittings, and the surrounding area. Oxygen combines readily with oil, grease, and other petroleum products to
form a combustible mass. |
HERO - Hazards of Electromagnetic Radiation to Ordnance.
Physical contact
with cartridge actuated devices during handling and loading operations is prohibited. At this time all radio transmissions and communications are halted. |
B. Oxygen System (Ref a, b, c)
Emergency oxygen is supplied to aircrew from the liquid oxygen system. Liquid oxygen flows from the 25 liter converter, located in the nose wheel well, through a heat exchanger |
From there, gaseous oxygen is supplied to ten
regulators located throughout the aircraft. There are four "Walk Around" portable oxygen bottles with full face masks. One is located next to the pilot, one next to the co-pilot, one on starboard side of the cargo 245 bulkhead and one starboard aft of the wheel well. |
C. Environmental Control (Ref a, D, c)
Two separate air conditioning systems supply conditioned air to the interior of the aircraft. Either system can supply conditioned air to both the flight station and cargo compartment distribution ducts and provide full pressurization capability |
Each system refrigerates air fed to it from the bleed air supply
system and conducts a mixture of hot air and refrigerated air through ducts to outlets in the aircraft compartments |
The entire fuselage of the aircraft can be pressurized using the Cabin
Pressurization system. |
Required air for cabin pressurization is supplied from
the air conditioning system, and the flow of air out of the aircraft is controlled by the out flow valve. If the cabin over pressurizes there is a safety valve located on the cargo door which will relieve pressure. |
There are __ first aid kits onboard which are used to treat injuries
sustained on the aircraft. |

There are _____ hand axes located on the aircraft
3 Hand axes may be used
during an emergency if normal exits are blocked. There is one on each side of the 245 bulkhead (port side) and one port aft of the cargo chain box. |
There are__emergency lights located on the aircraft. Emergency lights are
used to help identify exits in the event of crash or loss of power. |
8
There are a total of __ LRU-33 Life rafts. The life rafts may be used to hold up to twenty individuals in the event of water landing.
4
There are __ PRC-149 emergency radios with GPS and beacon capabilities
located on the flight deck side of the 245 bulkhead. |
5
There are __ Victim Rescue Units which are used to provide a time limited
supply of oxygen for passengers. |
80
There are LPU-32 personal flotation life preservers onboard for used by
passengers |

There are ___ 1409 Series Imperial Immersion anti-exposure suits.
5
There is an emergency escape rope next to each overhead emergency
escape
hatch. |
There are __ two-gallon emergency portable water located next to the cargo
ramp. |

E. Fire Suppression (Ref a, 0, c)
The aircraft Fire Suppression system provides fire protection for each of the four engines and the APU |
Bromotrifluoromethane (BT) is used as the fire extinguishing agent.
The agent is contained in two bottles, each of which has a
capacity of 27 pounds. The bottles are "discharged one at a time and the agent is able to be directed to anyone of the engines or to the APU. Each bottle is |
supercharged with nitrogen at about 600 PSI and is discharged by an electrically
exploded charge from a cartridge actuated device. |
There are four C02 hand-operated fire extinguishers located on the aircraft
to extinguish fires. |
One is located on each side of the 245 bulkhead (port
side), one on the port aft wheel well, and one port aft of the troop door. |
