Black bear

Opportunistic omnivores.


Mom gives birth during hibernation.


More docile and smallest of the North American bears. Weigh between 200-500 lbs, largest weighed in at 880 lbs.


Coat colors can be yellow, brown, grey, or black.


Heartbeat slows from 50bpm to 8 BPM during hibernation, and can lose about 40% of their body weight.

Brown bear

Very different from brown bears.


Not add thick in body shape, longer muzzles and shoulder humps, and more aggressive.


Opportunistic omnivores like the black bears, but generally have a higher percentage of meat in the diet. Related to the grizzly, but a different species. Larger than black bears- on average up to 800 lbs.


Wardens noticed the beasts waving add they walks drive by and would toss them a few pieces of fruit. The bears learned over time, when they see a warden, the more they move their paws, there more often they get rewarded. Now it is common to see the bears waving hello as a warden goes by.

Best cubs produce a loud continuous humming while nursing, which is believed to help stimulate their mothers mulk production.
