Forms the periphery of the intervertebral disc and is composed of strong, fibrous tissue.
Anuulus fibrosus
The center of the intervertebral disc composed of semifluid and is compressed under pressure.
Nucleus pulposus
Name the ligament that limits extension in the vertebral column.
a. Anterior Longitudinal Ligament
b. Posterior Longitudinal Ligament
c. Ligamentum Flavum
a. Anterior Longitudinal Ligament
Name the ligament that limits flexion in the vertebral column
a. Anterior Longitudinal Ligament
b. Posterior Longitudinal Ligament
c. Ligamentum Flavum
b. Posterior Longitudinal Ligament
Name the ligament that is enriched in elastic and holds the spinal cord together.
a. Anterior Longitudinal Ligament
b. Posterior Longitudinal Ligament
c. Ligamentum Flavum
c. Ligamentum Flavum
Muscles with vertical fiber alignment, including the rectus abdominus and erector spinae and are superficial
Global muscles
Muscles with transverse fiber alignment and include transverse abdominus and lumbar multifidi and are deep
Local muscles

Which of the following helps engage the transverse abdominus?
a. Multifidus
b. Pelvic Floor Muscles
c. Erector Spinae
b. Pelvic Floor Muscles
Which of the following helps to stabilize the pelvis?
a. Erector Spinae
b. Multifidus
c. Transverse Abdominus
c. Transverse Abdominus
This condition occurs when the spine has a lateral curve <10 degrees. Adolescent Idiopathic ________ is 10x more common in females and is due to muscles pulling spine in that condition. The spine straightens out during spinal flexion. The spine will curve to the right on the thoracic vertebra and to the left on the lumbar vertebra.
Scoliosis
Also called a "slipped disk" or a "pinched nerve" this occurd as a result of sudden or repetitive motion in combination with flexion and rotation. The nucleus pulposus leaks out of the annular fibrosus. There is typically low back pain and radicular pain and is worse after prolonged sitting and resting. The onset may be either sudden or gradual. Straight leg raise to 30 degrees is painful.

Anti-inflammatory techniques as well as EXTENSION based and core stabilization exercises are used for treatment.
Herniated Disk (HNP)
May result from twisting with both feet on the ground, stumbling forward, falling backward, stepping too far down and landing heavily on one leg, or forward bending with the knees locked during lifting. The pain is palpable and medial to the posterior inferior iliac spine. Muscle spasm/guarding and pelvic assymetric and leg length difference. Common during pregnancy.
Sacroiliac Joint Sprain
Occurs primarily from direct impact, which may result from forcibly sitting down, falling or being kicked by an opponent. Injuries include sprains, contusions, or fractures. Ring seat and analgesics
Coccyx
An inflammatory condition of the sciatic nerve that can accompany recurrent or chronic low back pain. This nerve is particularly vulnerable to torsion or direct blows that tend to impose abnormal stretching and pressure on it as it emerges from the spine. The cause of the inflammation must be identified and treated. If there is a disk protrusion, lumbar traction may be appropriate.
Sciatica
Spondylolysis refers to a degeneration of the vertebrae and, more commonly, a defect in the articular processes of the vertebrae. Sports movements that characteristically ________ the spine, such as arching back in gymnastics, lifting weights, blocking in football, kicking in football, serving in tennis, spiking in volleyball, and using the butterfly stroke in swimming are most likely to cause this condition. Spondyololisthesis is a complication of spondylothesis often resulting in hypermobility of a vertebral segment. Has the highest incidence of L__ slipping on S__
