Binary Fission
is the form of asexual reproduction and cell division used by all prokaryotes, and some organelles within eukaryotic organisms
Cell cycle
•The cell cycle, or cell-division cycle, is the series of events that takes place in a cell leading to its division and duplication (replication). In cells without a nucleus (prokaryotic), the cell cycle occurs via a process termed binary fission.
Mitosis
has 5 parts, prophase, metaphase, anaphase, telophase, and cytokinesis
cytokinesis
when cell contents separate. Occurs differently in animals and plants
Meiosis
cell division that produces gametes (sex cells) containing half the number of chromosomes as a parent's body cell. Consists of two seperate cell divisions known as meiosos I and meiosos II
M Phase
When mitosis occurs
Centriole
They are there to help the cell when it comes time to divide. They are put to work in both the process of mitosis and the process of meiosis.
Centromere
is a region on a chromosome that joins two sister chromatids.
Chromatid
Either of the two daughter strands of a replicated chromosome that are joined by a single centromere and separate during cell division to become individual chromosomes.
Crossing over
is an exchange of genetic material between homologous chromosomes
Gametes
are sex cells. sex cells are also haploid cells
tetrad
when dna coils, homologous chromosomes line up with eachother to form what?
IPMAT
means interphase, prophase,metaphase,anaphase, and telophase
