polarity
an unequal distribution of charge. There is more negative charge in oxygen atoms, more positive charge in hydrogen atoms
solution
a homogeneous(all of the same or similar kind or nature) mixture of two or more substances; frequently a liquid solution
adhesion
sticking to something different than itself. Water sticks to glass because it is slightly polar. it does not stick to oil or wax becasue they have to polarity
cohesion
sticking to others of the same kind. Water molecules stick to other water molecules. It will stick to any molecule with any polarity
hydrogen bond
a very weak chemical bond. When a hydrogen's electron is in between 2 oxygen atoms, it forms a bond because it is attracted to both oxygens on either side.
buffer
an ionic compound that resists changes in its pH
add a buffer (a solution)
acid
any of various water-soluble compounds having a sour taste and reacting with a base to form a salt
base
