The principle of segregation and the principle of dominance.
What is the principle of segregation?
It states that there are alternative forms, called alleles, for a single gene.
What does the principle of dominance state?
It states that, if the two allels for a trait are different, one allele will be dominant.
What does a test cross consist of?
A recessive homozygous individual with an individual with an unknown genotype.
What is the law of independent assortment?
Traits that are unlinked will separate independently of each other during meiosis.
What is incomplete dominance?
It occurs when one allele does not completely block the expression of another and the alleles blend to form the phenotype.
What is codominance?
It occurs when a heterozygous phenotype expresses both alleles equally.
