Prokaryotic cells

A simple cell that does not have a nucleus. The DNA is free in the cytoplasm. E.g Bacteria.

Eukaryotic cell

A type of cell that has a nucleus. E.g Humans, Potatoes and Algae.

Cell membrane

Holds cell together, controls what goes in and out.

Cytoplasm

Gel like substance where most chemical reactions happen. It contains enzymes that make chemical reactions happen.

Mitochondria

Where most aerobic respirations take place. Respiration transfers energy.

Ribosomes

Where proteins are made in cell.

Proteins

Proteins are made up of hundreds or thousands of smaller units called amino acids, which are attached to one another in long chains.

Nucleus

It contains genetic material that controls activity in the cell.

Organism

An individual animal, plant, or single-celled life form.

They are called microorganisms. They are called unicellular organisms or single celled organisms. Examples include bacteria and Ameoba.

The basic unit of all living things except viruses, The basic structural unit of all organisms.
