Define Matter
Matter is anything that has weight and takes up space...Air

Explain why a complete atom is electrically neutral
Neutrons carry no charge, thereby making them electrically neutral. The atom is electricall neutral because there is the exact same # of protons and electrons, which effectively cancel each other out.
Distinguish between atomic # and atomic mass
Atomic # represents the # of protons in an atom of a particular element. Since atoms are electrically neutral, it also tells you the # of electrons. Atomic weight/mass= # of protons + neutrons in the atom.(lgr.# in all elements except hydrogen)

Describe how electrons are arranged within atoms
orbit 1= 2electrons
orbit 2= 8electrons orbit 3= 18electrons but will fill with 8 electrons first than give 8electrons to orbit 4 (26electrons-8for3orbit-8for4orbit=10 wich will be returned to the 3orbit=18electrons) |
