Constitutional Isomer

Molecule with same molecular formula but different connectivity.

Stereoisomer

Type of isomer where the connectivity is the same.

Conformational Isomer

Isomer formed by the rotation about a single bond.

Configurational Isomer

Stereoisomer where the compounds cannot be interconnected by rotating around a single bond (includes geometric and optical isomers).

Geometric Isomer

Isomer with two heavy atoms on either side of a double bond which can either be oriented parallel or diagonal to each other.

Optical Isomers

Isomers that are non-superimposable mirror images. More specifically called enmantiomers.

Intermolecular forces from strongest to weakest.

• Ion-dipole

•Hydrogen-bonding

•Dipole-dipole

•Dipole-induced dipole

•Induced dipole - induced dipole (London dispersion forces)
