Science
The process of asking and answering questions using logic, prior knowledge and other observations.
Scientific Method
The process of doing science
Observation
Noticing surroundings using your five sences.
Purpose
Something you want to figure out about the obervation you made.
Hypothesis
A possible answer to your question usually in if...then form.
Experiment
A test or experiment to prove your hypothesis by recording and collecting evidence.
Analysis and Conclusion
Interpretation of data which is usually on a graph to see if the hypothesis is correct.
Repeat
if hypothesis didnt work and even if it was correct you always repeat the steps in the scientific method to make sure your results are accurate.
Theory
Tested multiple times by multiple people, backed with lots of evidence, data and facts.
Qualitative Observations
Observations made about a quality of an experiment or describing it.
Quantatative Observations
Observations having to do with fact and numbers.
Direct Observations
An obervation made about something that is seen and cant be argued.
Indirect Observations
observations made by using all of the senses other than sight.
Inferences
Something you assume based on prior knowledge and observations.
Variables
Things that can change during an experiment.
Independent Variable
Variables that you can change; Variables that you have direct control over.
Dependent Variable
Variables changed by the independent variable.
Controlled Experiment
When only one independent variable at a time is changed in a experiment.
Control Group
Independent variables are not changed in control groups.
Experimental Group
A group in which the independent variable is changed and compared to the control group.
Metric System
System of measurement wich is universaly used by scientists, common measurements used are meters, grams, and liters.
Meter (m)
Base unit of the metric system measured using a meter stick or a metric ruler.
Liter (L)
Base unit of metric system used to measure liquids.
Gram (g)
Base unit of the metric system used to measure mass.
