Cortex

Afferent Arteriole
Delivers blood to Bowman's capsule.
Glomerulus
Group of capillaries forming a tight ball. It is an exchange point in which FILTRATION occurs! Small particles are forced through by pressure in renal artery.
Bowman's Capsule
Double walled cup shaped structure that surrounds the glomerulus.
Efferent Arteriole
Leaves glomerulus and branches into network of capillaries that surround the proximal tubule.
Proximal Tubule
glucose, amino acids, and some salts are forced back out of the tubules into the bloodstream by active transport.
Loop of Henle
Sodium ions move out by active transport and release H2O by osmosis.
