1st Amendment
|
Freedom of speech, press,(freedom of expression), Freedom of religion, peaceful assembly,& right to petition government

2nd Amendment
|
Right to bear arms, one of the reasons this Amendment was created was o, if the government turned on the people, the people would be able to build a militia.

3rd Amendment
|
No quartering of troops, this law was made because before, when the colonists were ruled by the british, the british forced the colonists to provide a home for their soldiers. This upset the colonists, so when the constitution was made our founding fathers made sure that no one would be forced to do this again in our country.

4th Amendment
|
No unreasonable search or seizure, this means that before a police officer can search someone's belongings they must have a reason.

5th Amendment
|
Right to a grand jury, No double jeopardy (no one can be tried for the same crime twice), self incrimination ( no one has to testify or say anything against themselves), Eminent domain ( If the government takes your land then they must pay you for it)must be guilt beyond doubt.

6th Amendment
|
Right to a speedy trial ( this is made so that if one is not guilty then they shall not be held in prison for to long before their trial), confrontation clause ( this means that the accused has the right to know exactly what they are being accused of), right to an impartial jury (this means that the jury must be chosen fairly that the accused wont have the whole side all really hate them and want them in jail from the start.), right to an public trial (this hepls make sure that there is an impartial jury.)

|
No excessive bail (meaning that the price of the bail must not be overpriced), No cruel and unusual punishment.

|
many civil rights not in the constitution are retained by the people, an example is the right to preserve the environment.

|
The federal government can use olny powers stated in the constitution, the others belong to the state/ people.
