Introduction
What did Jesus do before he was taken up to heaven?
Jesus gave instructions by the power of the Holy Spirit to his apostles. He appeared to them many times,proved that he was alive and talked about the Kingdom of God.
What characteristics made the apostles unique?
i) Jesus chose them (v.2)
ii) Jesus showed himself to them (v.3)
iii) Jesus commissioned them to preach and teach his name. (v.3)
iv) Jesus promised the Holy Spirit.

What did the apostles ask Jesus when they met together with him?
They asked whether Jesus would give the Kingdom back to Israel at that time.
What was Jesus' reply?
Jesus said that the times and occasions were set by his Father's authority. It was not for them to know what would happen.
According to Jesus, what would happen to the apostles when the Holy Spirit came upon them? What would they do?
a) They would be filled with power.
b) They would be witnesses in Jerusalem,Judea and Samaria and to the ends of the earth.
What happened to Jesus after he said those things?

At a meeting of about 120 believers a few days after the ascension of Jesus to heaven.
Why did Peter quote the two psalms of David to his listeners?
Because he wanted to show that the Scriptures where the Holy Spirit spoke through David concerning Judas (he would die and his place would be taken by someone else).
Who was the psalmist referring to and what had that person done?
Judas. He had betrayed Jesus to the Jewish religious authorities by guiding them to Jesus. They arrested Jesus and were ultimately responsible for his death.
What did that person do after that?
Judas bought a field with the money that he got. There,he fell to his death. He burst open and his inside spilled out.
Why was it necessary to select someone to replace him?
i) In order to fulfill the Scriptures from Psalms.

What were the reaction of the people?
Reaction: Excited,amazed and wondered how it was possible. (Galileans could talk in diff. languages from many countries that were represented there)
What were the response to what they hear?
In amazement and confusion, they kept asking each other what that meant.
Others: Made fun of the believers and accused them of being drunk.
How did Peter respond to the crowd's claim that they were drunk?
Peter's respond:
a. Told them they were not drunk (it was only 9 o'clock in the morning).
b.Told them that they were filled with the Holy Spirit as had been prophesied by the prophet Joel.
Describe briefly what Peter said to the crowd.
a. Prophet Joel's prophesied that God would pour out His Holy Spirit.
b. They would proclaim His message,see visions and dream dreams.
c. God perform miraculous signs.
d. Whoever call upon His name would be saved. (Before the Day of the Lord comes)
How did the crowd respond to his message?
a. The crowd were deeply troubled.
b. They asked of what should they do.
What did Peter tell them that they must do?
a. Turn away from their sins.
b. Be baptised by the Holy Spirit.

To whom had God made His promise?
To the people of Israel and their children and to all who were far away whom God would call Himself.
What resulted from Peter's urging of the crowd to save themselves from the coming judgment?
Many of them believed. About 3000 were added to their group that day.

They spent their time learning,taking part in the fellowship, sharing in fellowship meals and prayers.
WHEN and WHERE did this incident take place?
- At the Beautiful Gate of the Temple of Jerusalem.
- At 3 o'clock in the afternoon, the hour of prayer.
Who were the people involved?
Peter, John and the beggar who had been lamed all his life.
Why was the man placed at that spot?
So that he could beg for money from those who were going to the Temple.
What did the man do when he saw Peter and John?
He begged them for money.
What did Peter say and do to the man?
a. Looked straight at him.
b. Told the man to look at them and he told him that he did not have any money.
c. He would give what he had.
d. In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, he ordered the man to get up and walk.
e. Took him by the right hand and helped him up.
Describe WHAT happened to the man after this.
AT ONCE, the man's ankles and feet became strong. He jumped up, stood on his feet and started walking around.
How did the people respond?
Reaction: Surprised and amazed.
Why did the people respond the way they did when they saw the man walking and praising God?
They recognised him as the beggar at the Beautiful Gate who had been lame all his life.
Mention the other occasion when a lame man was healed in the book of Acts.
