MALINGERING
Conscious process of intentionally producing symptoms for a goal.
(Disability income, Place to Stay)

SOMATIZATION DISORDER
Presence of a certain number of symptoms accompanied by significant functional impairment.
(Symptoms include pain, in joints, head, chest, back,and pelvis,nausea, dysphagia, bloating, constipation, diziness)
HYPOCHONDRIASIS
Missinterpretation of innocent physical sensations as evidence of a serious illness or problem.
("I dont car care what the tests say, i know i have breast cancer!")
PAIN DISORDER
There is no organic cause for the pain, yet the client is in pain or discomfort, and is often impaired.
Suicide rate is high in this disorder.
(Rape victims might still feel pains of certain abuses they have suffered)
BODY DYSMORPHIC DISORDER
Clients preoccupation with trying to "perfect" their own body image.
Even numerous cosmetic surgeries are of no avail.
(Woman on Oprah)
CONVERSION DISORDER
Presence of defecits in voluntary motor or sensory functions.
(Paralysis of hand, body, etc)
DISSOCIATIVE DISORDERS
Dissociative Amnesia.
Dissociative Fugue.
Dissociative Identity Disorder.
Depersonalization Disorder.
DISSOCIATIVE AMNESIA
Inability to recall important personal information, often of a traumatic or stressful nature, that is too pervasive to be of a forgetful nature.
(homeless bum who is acutally a millionare)
DISSOCIATIVE FUGUE
Sudden unexpected travel from the locale and an inability to recall the past. In rare cases, people form a new identity.
(Gay guy that is really married with 7 children, but doesnt remember)
DISSOCIATIVE IDENTITY DISORDER
Presence of two OR MORE distinct personality states that alternate in the conrol of the body.
(Person with an evil serial killer as one person and a pastor as another)
DEPERSONALIZATION DISORDER
Alteration of perception that can be persistent or recurring.
(Client might feel as if they are flying away from their body)
INTERVENTIONS FOR SOMATOFORM AND DISSOCIATIVE DISORDERS
Promotion of self care activities. Health teaching. Assertiveness training. Meds such as Antidepressants
