Rehoboam

1 Kings 12. Solomon's son. Became king at 41. Ruled the South 17 years. Ends as a bad king as he splits the kingdom over taxes. Rehoboam seeks to unite the kingdom back and is unsuccessful. Prophet Shemaiah says the Lord has allowed the kingdom to be split.
Asa
1 Kings 15. "All hat, no cattle." A "good" king, but nothing special. Removed cult prostitutes, removed all the idols, removed idolatress queen mother Maacah. When cornered by King Baasha of Israel, Asa takes temple gold/silver to bribe Ben-Hadad I, king of Aram (Syria - capitol is Damascus) to cancel treaty with Baasha. Asa wins.
Jehoshaphat
1 Kings 22. "Odie." Son of Asa. A "good" king. Became king at 35 and reigned 25 years. Partial reformer. Ready to unite with Ahab, "Like me, like you." 1 Kings 22:4. "He sought Yahweh with all of his heart," 2 Chr 22:9.
Joash
2 Kings 11. Tiny son of King Ahaziah who was rescued and hidden during his grandmother Athaliah's murderous ploy. He became king at age 7 and reigned 40 years. When priest Jehoiada was alive, Joash was "good" and was "bad" after Jehoiada died.
Uzziah (or Azariah)
2 Kings 15. "As long as he sought the Lord, God prospered him." 2 Chr 26. God helped him in construction, agriculture, and military. BUT he became proud and tried to act as priest and was struck with leprosy, dying with the disease.
Ahaz
2 Kings 16. The Isaiah 7 (a virgin will conceive…give birth to a son) king. An evil king and father to Hezekiah, a very good king.
Hezekiah
2 Kings 18-20. The obedient, inward reformer. Dealt with God's blessing on external threats. When ill, God extended his life (miracle of the shadow). Became proud due to life being extended.
Manasseh
2 Kings 21. Son of Hezekiah. The bad-boy king. King at 12, reigns for 55 years. Longest reign and the worst king. Captured and taken to Babylon. Returned to Jerusalem. Comes to God. Sad but wiser. Suffers the covenantal curse in 21:13-15…Judah will follow Israel in destruction.
Josiah
2 Kings 22-23. The good-boy king, outward reformer. King at 8, is a very good king. Recovers the law, renews the covenant, reforms the nation. Killed by Pharaoh Necho.
Jehoiachin
2 Kings 24. Grandson of Josiah, son of Jehoiakim. Second to last king of Judah. 18 years old when king, reigns 3 months. Captured by Babylon. Taken alive. Beginning of Babylonian imprisonment.
Jeroboam I
1 Kings 12. Jeroboam I heads "tax delegation." Becomes king of Israel. For self-protection, built cult centers at Dan and Bethel, set up substitute worship, appointed unqualified priests, religious system becomes cursed. When son was sick, he sent wife in disguize to Prophet Ahijah who delivers a curse over the house of Jeroboam. Jeroboam leaves a "spiritual" dynasty.
Ahab
1 Kings 16. Very evil king. Married Jezebel. Worshipped Baal and built an alter to Baal in the new capitol of Israel, Samaria.
Jehu
2 Kings 9-10. 841 B.C. King appointed by God through prophet Elisha to elminate the entire line of Ahab's family, which ended up being both the northern and southern royal families. Jehu was mostly good but allowed the golden calves to stay. Blessed with long dynasty.
Jeroboam II
2 Kings 14. An evil king who will be used to help save Israel. His borders are enlarged to near Solomonic range because of an Assyrian power vaccum.
Jezebel
Wicked wife of Ahab. Was killed by Jehu.
Athaliah
Wicked wife of Joram, daughter of Ahab/Jezebel. Killed her own sons/grandsons as a power play. "Queen" for 7 years. Killed after Joash, grandson, came to power.
Elijah
Prophet. Name means "My God is Yahweh." From Tishba, wild-looking, calls & passes mantle to Elisha, works miracles.
Naboth
The owner of the vineyard that Ahab wanted and Jezebel helped him plot to gain by trumping up false charges and killing Naboth. From that incident Eliajah pronounced the curse on both of them regarding dogs licking up their blood.
Elisha
Prophet. Called by Elijah. Name means "Yahweh is my salvation." Ministers over 5 decades to 4 kings of Israel - Joram to Joash. Healed water.
Ben-Hadad
King of Aram, the one to whom Asa sent the bribe to cancel the treaty with Israel.
Micaiah
1 Kings 22. A prophet. Name means "Who is Like Yahweh." Spoke truth about the upcoming battle against Aram (Syria) to Ahab even though Ahab was looking for a pleasant prediction. Ahab was killed in battle as predicted.
Pharaoh Necho
Rules Egypt. Kills Josiah.
Sennacherib
2 Kings 19. Assyrian king. God gives Hezekiah victory over him in battle when he prays. The angel of the Lord comes and slays 185,000 Assyrians.
