Teams

Two teams of five players

Purpose

For each team to throw the ball into its basket and prevent the other team from doing so

Time

Four quarters of eight minutes with one minute intermissions after the first and third quarters and a ten minute half time

How to start beginning and extra period

Jump ball between any two opponents in the center

Possession

The team that doesn't get possession of the ball on the jump ball will get possession out of bounds on the first tie ball. Possession changes after each tie ball and the beginning of each quarter.

How to start 2nd and 4th quarter

Throw in from out of bounds at the center court line

Winner

The team with more points at the end

Tied

No change of baskets extra four minute periods with one minute intermission before each

Three one minute and two thirty second. Extra one minute if overtime.

Throw in violations

Leave throw in spot before ball is released. Failure to pass the ball directly into the court. Taking more than five seconds. Stepping into the court. Touching the ball in the court before it touches another player. Throws into the basket before it touches another player.

Handling the ball violations

Traveling, kicking it, punching it, or throwing it into the basket from below. Stepping out of bounds. Double dribble, palming, both hands. Ball goes out of bounds. Backcourt.

Backcourt rule

Control of the ball in backcourt for ten seconds. First to play the ball in backcourt if your team touched it in front court. Back to front and back to back without touching an opponent first.

Three second lane violation

Remaining for more than three seconds in the opponents free throw lane while their team is in possession of the ball in their front court.

Jump ball violations

Steps in opponents half before ball is tapped. Tapping before it reaches highest point on the toss. Tapping the ball more than twice. Catching. Playing the ball before it has touched the floor, basket, backboard, or player. Another steps in circle.

Free throw violations

Ten seconds. Failure to cause ball to touch or enter the basket. Entering restricted area before the ball is thrown. Stepping out of the circle. Stepping into boundaries. Leaving lane space. Entering lane space after ball is given to the shooter. Defensive team gets lane space closest to basket.

Free throw

Unguarded throw. because of a personal foul attempted by offended player. Technical foul coach selects player


2 point- 1 free throw if made 2 if missed


3 point- 1 free throw if made 3 if missed


Technical- 2 free throws then a throw in at center

One and one

7 personal fouls in one half, the opponent fouled in the 7, 8, and 9 gets 1 free throw. If made, 1 more free throw. If missed, play continues. 10 personal foul, 2 free throws.

Personal foul

Illegal contact. If a player gets 5 personal fouls, he is disqualified.
