Statutory right – a right protected by specific law

Residual right – pertain to the remaining rights that are not affected by contracts or laws that represent the interests of employees or other parties (such as a union)

What is Whistle Blowing?
Whistle blowing – employee disclosure of an employer’s illegal, immoral, or illegitimate practices to persons or organizations that maybe able to take corrective action.
What are the differences between positive discipline.and progressive discipline
Progressive discipline – a series of management interventions that gives the employees opportunities to correct undesirable behaviors before being discharged
Four step progressive discipline procedure: verbal warning, written warning, suspension, discharge
Positive discipline – a discipline procedure that encourages employees to monitor their own behaviors and assume responsibility for their actions.
Four step positive discipline procedure: counseling between supervisor and employee, another counseling session where solution is written down, final warning that employee is at risk of being discharged, discharge
