- cause malaria

- causes fever, flu-like illness, N/V, diarrhea, anemia

- causes severe hermolytic anemia, flue-lie symptoms

- transmitted via triatomine bugs
- early stage you see swelling where the parasite entry (usuall eyelid)
- chronic infection can cause infammation of the heart and bowel obstructions
