Explain why Darwin's theory was only gradually accepted.

People didn't believe his evidence was not seen first hand so people couldn't know if it was true/correct.

Explain why there was conflict with religious belief.

People with religions believed that God created all living things so to think humans evolved from apes was not possible (this was one of his ideas)

Describe some of the evidence that was lacking.

The change of behaviour as organisms evolved. At the time of Darwin's theory people coud not date fossils which meant he had no data of evidence. People didn't know the timescale of evolution.
