What's the mechanism of action?

Inhibits the action of acetylcholine at postganglionic parasympathetic neuroeffector sites.

What's the dosage for adults and pediatrics?
|
Asystole - 1mg IV/IO push, may repeat every 3-5 mins to a max of 3 doses. Unstable bradycardia .5mg and same as above. Pediatric - .02mg/kg IV/IO push and may double for second dose, max dose .1mg, max dose for child .5 single dose, 1mg total, adolescent single dose 1mg, total 2mg.

What's the indications?
|
Hemodynamically unstable bradycardia, asystole, bradycardic pulseless electrical activity (PEA), organophosphate poisoning, bronchospastc pulmonary disorders.

What's the Contraindications?
|
Tachycardia, hypersensitivity, unstable cardiovascular status in acute hemorrhage and myocardial ischemia, narrow angle glaucoma.

What are the side effects?
|
Headaches, dizziness, palpatations, nausea w/ vomiting, tachycardia, arrythmias, and flushed hot dry skin.

Onset - immediate; peak effect 1-2 mis; Duration 2-6 hours
