define and describe and adiabatic process .
when substance undergoes a change in temperature without any transfer of heat or mass between it and the surrounding atmosphere.most common is in the atmosphere is the vertical movement of air caused by its expansion and contraction response to changes in temperature.
describe a diabatic proccess.
process where energy is added to or removed from a body and exchanged with the surrounding environment.But with no corresponding change in the bodies temperature e.g. water that evaporates retains the same temperature in its gaseous state that it had in its liquid one.
whats an Exothermic diabatic change ?
involves the movement of water from a weak to a strong molecular state . this produces a surplus of energy which is released into the surronding atmosphere in the form of latent heat.

involves the movement of water from a strong to a weak molecular state, this creates an energy deficit which is rectified by the absorption or transfer of latent heat from the surrounding atmosphere.

each element within a mass of air contributes part of the total pressure of that mass.for example if the atmospheric pressure was 1000hpa the 78% of that pressure would be from nitrogen 21% from oxygen and the rest coming from the small substances including water vapour.

if our parcel of dry air was to become saturated then the potential contribution of water vapour to atmospheric pressure of that parcel would be at a therorectical maximum value. at any given temperature this value is the saturation vapour pressure.
describe the effect of ice surfaces , high temperatures on the saturation vapour pressure of moist air.
key determinant is temperature. the higher the temperature of a body of air the higher the SVP, the lower the temp then the lower the SVP as it takes more water to saturate warm vs cold air. Although this relationship is not linear with temperature meaning that very high temperatures above 40 C saturation is unachievable because not enough water vapour to saturate the air.
