Relating to clts in an open, genuine, and spontaneous way, taking responsibility for feelings, and being nondefensive. Don't be hostile or abrasive, even if the feeling's authentic.
Discuss authentic responding.
1.Provide positive feedback.
2.Describe a personal experience (rarely).
3.Offer insights, ideas, and reactions related to problem.
4.Express feelings when a clt has put you in an awkward position or her behavior is unreasonable or upsetting. Empathy is important here.
Why should you be assertive?
1.If you're decisive, a clt develops more confidence in you.
2.Skilled assertive responding can allow you to facilitate certain therapeutic processes, methods, and situations.
