Reproduction by mitotic cell divisions. The amoeba is unicellular protozoan that reproduces asexually. About every three days an active amoeba grows large enough to divide. Normally the amoeba has no definite shape. But as its nucleus divides, the amoeba has the shape of a star. Toward the end of mitotic cell division, the amoeba becomes long and thin and the two nuclei move toward opposite ends. Finally, the two new cells are formed
