Opening Sterile Packs
place pack on clean surface
break the seal and open the pack
UNFOLD FIRST CORNER OF THE PACK AWAY FROM YOU
unfold both sides
pull front portion of the wrap toward you and drop it
never touch inner surface
How to add separately wrapped items to the sterile tray
Open the pack and drop the items onto the sterile field/ never allow the container to touch the sterile field
Pouring Liquids into sterile field
Pour small amount into the trash to clean lip of bottle/ hold bottle so label is in palm of hand/ hold bottle 6 in above trash to prevent splashing

wash hands thoroughly/ open outer package containing gloves/ open inner package/ approach gloves from the open end, and touch only inner surface with opposite hand/ put on glove, touching only the folded cuff/ pick up other glove with gloved hand and unfold cuff/ carefully unfold the cuff on both gloves/ always keep hands in front of the body without touching body covering or placing hands on arms
