Aim
A testable statement about the purpose of the investigation.1
Hypothesis

Dependant Variable
The effected variable.
Independent Variable
The manipulated variable.
Extraneous Variable
An uncontrolled variable which can effect the Dependant Variable.
Confounding Variable
A variable which has a clear, direct effect on the Dependent Variable.
Directional Hypothesis
A hypothesis which states that the results will be one sided.
Non-directional Hypothesis
A hypothesis which states the IV will effect the DV but not how.
Operationalisation
Adding specifics of the experiment into the hypothesis.
