Primary Colors

The three main colors that make up all the other colors.



Ex: Blue,red,yellow

Secondary colors

The colors made by mixing two primary colors together.



Ex: orange,violet,green

Tertiary Colors

Colors made by mixing a lot more of one primary color with less of another. Also mixing primary and a secondary color together. Name the strongest primary color first.



Ex: yellow-orange,red-orange,red-violet,blue-violet,blue-green,yellow-green

Hot colors

Colors on the left of the color wheel. They stand out in a picture.



Ex:Red,yellow,orange

Cool Colors

Colors on the right side of the color wheel. Usually backgrounds in a picture.



Ex: Blue,greens,violets

Monochromatic

A color with it darks (shades) and its lights(tints).



Ex: light blue,medium blue,dark blue

Analogous

Any color with the same basic hue (color) in them.



Ex: red, red-orange,red-violet

Complementary

Any two colors directly across from each other on the color wheel. When mixed together they make brown.



Ex: Blue and orange,Green and red,violet and yellow

Split complimentary

One color and the two on either side of its complimentary.



Ex:Blue, yellow-orange,red-orange

any three colors in an equilateral triangle



Ex: Primary colors, Secondary colors
