What does AER stand for and what is it? |
Army Emergency Relief. It's a non-profit organization with the sole purpose of helping Army personnel, retirees, and reservists on active duty for more than 30 days, and families by providing money through no-interest loans, grants or a combination of the two. |

Complete DA Form 1103, bring a copy of your last LES, if it's an emergency or natural disaster you must first go to Red Cross to see if they can assist you - if not, they'll refer you to AER |

Disaster assistance, emergency financial assistance, emergency communications between soldiers and their families, reporting service for emergency leave purposes, counseling for personal and family problems. |

What activities does Red Cross promote? |
Blood donations, cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) courses, first aid classes, and water safety. |

How does the Red Cross usually help the soldier? |
The Red Cross should be notified if a family member or relative becomes terminally ill or dies. The Red Cross will verify the emergency and contact your company commander so arrangements can be made for emergency leave. |
