effective teaching and learning for students begins with teachers who can demonstrate sensivity for diversity in teaching and relationships within the school communities. Student portolios should include work that includes a mulitcultural perspective.Teachers also need to be responsive to include cultural and diverse resources in their curriculum and instructional practices.
Exposing children to cultrally sensitive room decorations or posters that show positive and inclusive messages is one way to demonstrate inclusion of multiple cultures. Teachers should also continously make cultural connections that are relevent and empowering for all students while communicating academic and behavior expectations.Cultural sensivity is communicated beyond the classroom with parents and commmunity members to establish and maintain relationships.
