How do mammary glands develop?
|
A modified skin gland developed from linear epidermal thickening, the mammary ridge, visible on the lateral surface of the trunk in the 14mm embryo. (length of ridge differs between species)

How do they displace as the embryo grows?
|
As the dorsal part of trunk grows, mammary ridge remains relatively ventrally.
