A protocol that requires its data to be exchanged between Web clients and servers using SSL encryption.

HTTPS
Secure Hypertext Transfer Protocol
The current version of a mail retrieval protocol which allows users to store messages on a mail server, rather than to download them to the local machine.
Uses TCP port 143.
IMAP4
Internet Message Access Protocol version 4
The current version of a protocol used to retrieve messages from a mail server. Messages previously stored on the mail server are downloaded to the client's workstation and then deleted from the mail server.
Uses TCP port 110.
POP3
Post Office Protocol version 3
A standard protocol used for accessing network directories.
LDAP
Lightweight Directory Access Protocol
A protocol that uses TCP/IP to transmit graphics and text quickly over a remote client-host connection.
IT also carries session, licensing, and encryption information.
Uses TCP port 3389.
RDP
Remote Desktop Protocol
A terminal emulation protocol used to lo on to remote hosts using the TCP/IP protocol.
Uses TCP port 23.
Telnet
A standard for encoding and interpreting binary files, images, video, and non-ASCII character sets within an e-mail message.
MIME
Multipurpose Internet Mail Extension
A sub-protocol responsible for moving messages from one e-mail server to another.
Uses TCP port 25.
SMTP
Simple Message Transfer Protocol
A protocol used to convey data regarding the status of managed devices on a network.
SNMP
Simple Network Management Protocol
A connection utility that provides authentication and encryption. It encrypts data exchanged throughout the session.
Uses TCP port 22.
SSH
Secure Shell
A protocol used to provide centralized AAA for multiple users.
Runs over UDP.
RADIUS
Remote Authentication Dial-In User Service.
A protocol that associates NetBIOS names with workstations. It is not routable in itself, but can be encapsulated into another protocol such as TCP/IP to become routable.
NetBIOS
A protocol in the TCP/IP suite used to synchronize the clocks of computers on a network.
