Anatomical Position:
Standing up with feet together and palms forward

Anatomical Terms
Superior
Toward the head. Inferior Away from the head. Proximal Closer to the point of attachment to the trunk. Distal Farther from the point of attachment to the trunk. Superficial Closer to the body surface. Deep Farther from the body surface. Medial Toward the midline of the body Lateral Away from the midline of the body. Anterior Front Posterior Back |
Sagittal plane
Divides the body into right and left halves. Midsagittal divides the body right down the middle into equal halves, and parasagittal divides the body into unequal parts.
Frontal plane
Divides the body into front and back.
Transverse plane
Divides the body into superior (top) and inferior (bottom) parts
Cytoplasm
The cytoplasm is everything inside the cell, except for the nucleus.
Golgi Complex
Packs cell products into a membrane and then secretes them outside of the cell
Cell Membrane
Bilayer of phospholipids. Also has proteins along it that serve many different functions
Centriole
Rough Endoplasmic Reticulum |
Has ribosomes on the surface that make proteins
Membranous Organelles
Endoplasmic Reticulum
Vacuoles Lysosomes Peroxisomes (oxidize harmful substances Golgi Complex Mitochondria Nucleus Membrane |
Non-Membranous Organelles
Ribosomes
Cytoskeleton Centrosome Flagella (Movement of Cell) Cilia (Movement of materials past the cell's surface) Inclusions |
